Approaches to Therapy.
I work primarily with individual adults at this time.
I am an integrative therapist with an eclectic approach, drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities and tailoring them to suit your unique needs and the challenges you are facing.
-
Person-Centred
This perspective is rooted in the belief that you hold the answers to help yourself, and that therapy serves as a supportive guide through empathic understanding and meaningful connection. Discovering insights in this way encourages greater independence and lasting change.
-
Emotion-Focused
This approach supports you in becoming more aware of your emotions and understanding the messages and meanings they may hold. This exploration can help highlight your values and goals, and in processing these emotions, move toward healing and growth.
-
Attachment-Based
This approach recognizes the impact of early experiences with parents or caregivers, and how these important formative relationships may shape the way we connect, build trust, and relate to others throughout life.
-
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Approaching therapy from a cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) lens allows us to explore the connection between your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions. By focusing on present-day patterns and perceptions, CBT methods can help you develop more adaptive ways of thinking and responding.
-
Strength & Compassion-Focused
We each have strengths. Recognizing them is an important part of highlighting what might not be as evident in harder times and to build on what is working. Compassion for others and extending that same kindness to ourselves can encourage resilience and support healing from shame, self-criticism, and painful experiences. Over time, this practice can lead to greater self-acceptance and a deeper sense of emotional safety.
-
Existential, Spiritual, & Environmental
You may find yourself questioning the meaning of life, seeking your own path, or reflecting on your personal and collective responsibilities — including concerns about environmental sustainability. Exploring these questions together and shaping your own definitions can help support a deeper sense of purpose, sparking motivation, hope, and a more positive outlook.
-
Mindfulness
A quiet moment, intentional breathing, meditation, watching the sunrise, practicing gratitude, or prayer — these are just a few ways to cultivate mindfulness, connect with the present moment, and attune to both your inner world and the world around you. Mindfulness can support well-being, relaxation, and effective stress management, among other benefits. Depending on your needs, I offer tools and practices in session to help integrate these approaches into your daily life.
-
Culturally Sensitive
By honouring your cultural background, values, beliefs, and identity, I strive to integrate these into our therapeutic work together — creating a space that feels aligned with your experiences and respectful of your worldview.
